When I consider giving the value to each object. I decided by the purpose of the object ‘s creators. For me, I usually observe by the look of the object that suits my lifestyle and gets my attention because of its appearances like shape, color, size, and other characteristics. But I also choose the object because of its functionality and the artist’s intention.

From the article, the definition of “useful object” can value by the suitability of purpose, material, and process of manufacture. Many design objects have created to satisfy the desire of the user which means functionality is one of the major factors in design. Each object’s material has to appropriate the function of the objects. It can also be considered on the different attitudes toward the design that can be an imitation of natural forms or the utility that should be functional and simple. However, the design of the object has to follow function to improve the lifestyle of the consumer and should be aesthetical and affordable universally.

On the other hand, Duchamp’s famous artwork called “Readymades” has affected the worldwide to criticize the art industry how society can value the artwork that is valuable or not. From this intention, it impacts the world to question what is the beauty of art really mean and who gets to decide. Thus, the significance of art is based on the creator. The creator can create an object based on their want so it can be functional or even nonfunctional but have the meaning inside. It relies on each personal opinion to judge the object that is it the art or whether it worth it or not.

Nowadays, we can give the value of each object in different ways so it depends on the taste of the user and consumer to choose the object to satisfy their need. Moreover, the difference between the art object and the design object is the art object conveys what the artist wants the audience to know. While the design object is intentionally created to be functional and aesthetical to satisfy the demands of the customer.
